TC11 - Metrological Infrastructures - Aims
Aims of TC11
To stimulate the transfer of know-how about metrology, metrological infrastructures and related matters to users and other relevant groups.
Objectives
To collect, discuss and disseminate know-how about development, establishment and operation of institutions and services concerned with measurement standards, measuring instruments, calibration, metrological assurance, certification and accreditation, taking into account the specific economic, social and educational needs of individual countries with special emphasis on developing countries.
Information flow
Having identified the problem: lack of information in industry and especially in small and medium-sized enterprises as regards the significance of metrology and calibration for quality, competitiveness and conformity assessment on the basis of international standards, arrangements and procedures, TC 11 decided to identify and collect the relevant information for dissemination. To reach this objective, the members of TC 11 and interested persons should pass on the information, together with details of the national metrology system, accredited calibration laboratories, etc. to the target group, either directly or through metrology associations and/or organizations for promoting small and medium-sized enterprises:

TC 11 also considers it its task to collect and analyze users’ problems (with regard to metrology and metrological infrastructures) with the aim of defining recommendations which are then passed on to the international bodies concerned. This will ensure that their contacts with practice are not lost. Furthermore, TC 11 endeavours to create the necessary awareness among decision-makers.
